A great experience

Weekly markets in Meran/Merano

Meran/Merano is famous for its Friday market. Whether you are looking for food, clothes or toys – you will find everything you are looking for! On Saturday mornings, you can visit the farmer’s market where you can buy cheese, cold meats, speck, freshly harvested vegetables and fruit from local farmers.

Meran/Merano Music Weeks

During August and September, the Meran/Merano spa facility plays host to the popular Meran/Merano Music Weeks. This musical event is quite an experience, even for the demanding. Besides traditional music styles, they also offer concerts in the so-called ‘crossover’ style.

A highlight of the farming year in Meran/Merano is the Grape Festival. This type of harvest fest is marked by parades with colourfully decorated band wagons. A varied framework programme with music and dance entices locals and guests from around to world to come and have a good time.

MMM - Messner Mountain Museum

The extreme mountaineer Reinhold Messner has fulfilled one of his dreams by opening the MMM-Messner Mountain Museum. There are a variety of museums all around South Tyrol and the Trentino region, created to present the theme of mountains from various points of view. The museum centre is the MMM at Castle Sigmundskron. It can easily be reached from Meran/Merano. The same is true about MMM Juval and the MMM Ortles.

The Ritten Railway

The Ritten mountain is a sunny high mountain plateau just above Bozen/Bolzano. You’ll find the most beautiful high earth pyramids, up to 30 metres high – the most famous in Europe! The panoramic views are more than impressive, and so are the Dolomites, a UNESCO world heritage site. The Ritten/Renon can be conquered using the Ritten/Renon Railway. Between the villages of Klobenstein/Collalbo and Oberbozen/Soprabolzano, you can use the Ritten/Renon narrow gage train.

Verona – Lake Garda

Don’t forget to plan an excursion to Lake Garda or Verona. We highly recommended you take a trip to the city of Romeo and Julia and a visit of the Arena in Verona! The opera events are spectacular and a very exciting experience.
